Well referenced work of Americas first premier Historian . I highly recommend the kindle over printed books ( I have bought as hardbacks books before the kindle edition ) as there are many direct quotes in French which you will most likely need to translate . Kindel has a translate function , a very useful item . . I think Parkman must have been writing for the educated of the 1850s and expected you to know French . What I like is you can read what the French said as opposed to a writers interpretation of what they said . A lot of his informative foot notes are copied from original manuscripts , which he presents in French at end of book , held in Canada and France . His style of writing is vibrant creating a clear picture in your mind of events of importance in the exploration and conflicts of early North American history .Product details

Provides an excellent overview of the struggles faced by the settlers and how they were used as pawns by both the English and French.
Volume 1 & 2 provide insight into the political and physical life of the French and English people. Two great countries different efforts to control the North American, and the beginnings of living the most free life on this earth.
